One of the many things I love about being a photographer is the wonderful individuals I have the opportunity to meet. I was happy to meet the family of this little darling, Sofie. Regina and Steve are inspiring parents, encouraging imagination, the importance of play, laughter, music, creativity, warmth and love. Sofie is surrounded by even more love from her Grandma Linda and Aunt Laura who could be with us that day for the family portrait. I admire how children remind us of a different perspective - that of wonder. The beauty of childhood makes an orange balloon not only fun but magical, the act of gathering acorns precious, and puddle jumping pure joy. Thank you to the Ball family for the warm welcome, and inviting me to spend some time with them. Here are just a few photos from our morning in Seattle.

hello love.
Hello all you lovebirds! I am so excited for this new special - just in time for Valentine's. It is hard for me to even think about February, but despite my denial, it is fast approaching! This special is available through February 7th in and around the city of Portland. As I've been told many times, Love One Another.

hello january.
Hello January. Hello 2010. There is something incredibly reassuring about the first month of a new year. We are greeted with the promise of possibility and the exhilaration of a fresh start, both creating a breathing space for change. It seems like the one time that we allow ourselves the luxury to take a step back, encourage introspection, and give time to reevaluate the world around us. We grant ourselves permission to take better care and for a moment, wash away cynicism and indulge in optimism. I crave the sense of renewal surrounding the beginning of January.
While I am grateful for 2009, I bid it farewell. I welcome 2010 with arms wide open. They say that resolutions are more achievable if you make them public, and since one purpose of this blog is to hold me accountable, I thought I would put one of my goals out there in the world. I shall strive to grow professionally and personally in the coming year and give devotion to that process and (hopefully) progress. I hope you enjoy the photos from a rainy portrait session - a continuation of our monthly photo project.
Thank you for reading, and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

I am excited to be part of a group exhibition at Compound Gallery here in Portland. If you happen to be out and about for First Thursday, I would love to see you there. The opening is January 7 at 7 pm.
